Video - The Mystery of the Circleville Letter Writer
The Circleville Letter Writer Duration: 45-60 seconds In 1976, residents of Circleville, Ohio began receiving threatening anonymous letters. The letters exposed alleged secrets and affairs, focusing particularly on school bus driver Mary Gillispie and the superintendent. When Mary's husband Ron received letters about his wife's supposed affair, he became obsessed with uncovering the writer's identity. In 1977, Ron died in a single-car accident with a blood alcohol level of 0.16, but a gun had been fired from inside his vehicle. Suicide or murder? Six years later, Mary found a booby-trapped sign meant to kill her. The trap was set by her brother-in-law, Paul Freshour, who was then convicted of writing the letters. But the letters continued while Paul was in prison with no mail privileges. To this day, the true identity of the Circleville Letter Writer remains unknown.
