Video - The Haunting Echoes of Hinterkaifeck
The Hinterkaifeck Murders Duration: 45-60 seconds March 31, 1922: Six people were brutally murdered with a pickaxe at the isolated Hinterkaifeck farmstead in Germany. Days before the murders, farmer Andreas Gruber told neighbors about strange footprints in the snow leading from the forest to his home – but none leading back. He heard footsteps in the attic and found a newspaper he didn't buy. Someone had been living in their home undetected. The victims were lured to the barn one by one and killed. The murderer then stayed in the house for days after, feeding the cattle and eating the family's food. Despite questioning over 100 suspects, no one was ever charged. One disturbing detail: The farm had a dark history. Andreas had an incestuous relationship with his daughter Viktoria, which produced a child, Cäzilia – also among the victims. Was it revenge? A jealous lover? Or something more sinister? The case remains Germany's most infamous unsolved murder.
