Video - The Enigmatic Death of Tamam Shud
The Tamam Shud Case Duration: 45-60 seconds December 1, 1948: A well-dressed man is found dead on Somerton Beach, Australia. No identification. All labels cut from his clothing. Cause of death: unknown. In his pocket: a scrap of paper with the words "Tamám Shud" – Persian for "it is ended." Police traced the paper to a rare book of Persian poetry. Inside that book was a coded message that remains unbroken and a phone number belonging to a nurse who lived nearby. The nurse claimed she didn't know him, but witnesses saw them together. For decades his identity remained a mystery, until DNA testing in 2022 identified him as Carl Webb, an electrical engineer from Melbourne. But why he died, what the code meant, and his connection to the nurse remain unsolved.
