Only its glowing gears remained. The old Clockmaker smiled. "Time isn't broken." "It's afraid." Below them, Storywood looked frozen. No rivers flowed. No birds flew. No flowers bloomed. The golden gear in Sammy's paws suddenly began spinning. It pointed toward a single empty space inside the giant clock. One gear was missing. Sammy carefully placed the golden gear into the opening. For one hopeful second... Every clock started moving again. Then... The new gear cracked in half. The Clockmaker closed his eyes. "There is only one chance left."
